As most of you have undoubtedly heard my beloved car, Frankie, has passed away. We were travelling together on New Year's Day to my grandmother's house in Queens, New York when disaster struck. Frankie is currently interred in a salvage yard somewhere in upstate New York where he will remain with the ashes of may items he was carrying. I miss him greatly and am hoping to find another one just as wonderful to help ease the loss.

The Tale of the End of Frankie

Frankie and I were travelling on the Taconic State Parkway near the Bear Mountain exit around noon on New Year's Day. This particular stretch of road is two lanes in each direction and has no shoulder. Someone in another vehicle pulled very close to Frankie's bumper and was going to pass. In an attempt to not get hit while the person passed, I pulled Frankie to the right a bit. The passenger side tires went onto the gravel on the side of the road. The other person sped away in the left lane. I tried to get the tires back onto the pavement and succeeded in doing so but could not regain control of Frankie. He swerved in the road then hit the median with the back of the driver's side. After swerving some more, he proceeded straight to the right hand side of the road where there was a small hill. We went up onto the hill and then rolled back, side-over-side, onto the highway, landing passenger-side down and completely blocking all traffic on that side of the road. I climbed out of Frankie through the driver's window with my cell phone. Some nice people helped me out. Not long after that I was sitting on the side of the road and looked back at Frankie only to see that he had caught fire. I was taken away to the hospital and forced not to see my beautiful Frankie until a few days later when I was told that I could retrieve any "salvagable" items from him. There wasn't much left. The fire had spread through the entire cabin and almost all the way into the trunk. Most items were lost but I was able to pull out the majority of my CDs, a few articles of clothing, and my teddy bear, Blizzard.

This was a picture of Frankie and I when we first got together:
